From the Reedhive, Home of Shampoochie® is located in Sautee Nacoochee, GA in the foothills of the Northeast Georgia mountain region. We braced ourselves last week for a potentially historic storm and excessive rainfall from Hurricane Helene. When we woke Friday morning to nothing more than a mess of branches and leaves, and some downed trees and power outages in our area, we felt relieved. Then we saw the news start to pour out of Western North Carolina, many areas in Florida, and so many places all over our own state of Georgia that showed flooding, damage, and devastation from Hurricane Helene. Adam felt called to help, and Sunday morning he packed the supplies and tools we had, as well as over 100 bars of surplus soaps, and drove to WNC to lend a hand. Over the next two days he saw the destruction and devastation firsthand, and Megan purchased more supplies to be donated by local community members who were making trips to areas that needed them. Adam had to come home to work, but will be returning to volunteer this weekend, and likely many for the foreseeable future. These communities are coming together in the face of Hurricane Helene's destruction, and it's a beautiful thing to see in such an ugly time.
We will also be personally accepting donations of cloth diapers that can be washed and reused for folks in the affected areas so that they don't all have to rely on continuous donations, as well as donating a bar of soap for each purchase for at least the entire month of October. (We're offering a 10% off discount with code nwsbm10 for National Women's Small Business Month as well, but soap will be donated whether the code is used or not!) To donate cloth diapers, please send them to our PO Box 116, Sautee Nacoochee, GA 30571. If you also feel called to help, here's a list of ways to donate or get involved. (More will be added as seen or vetted.)
